My Skin Care Routine!

I have noticed a few times in the comments, you guys have been asking about my skin care routine. So here it finally is! I am someone who suffers from dry skin. I also have eczema and have been dealing with that my whole life. It especially becomes an issue for me when I get these patches on my face. I need to be careful to use products that does not dry out my face too much but also does not cause it to get too oily. When I do my full skin care routine, I use five products. The first product I use is Clean and Clear Advanced Acne Control. this is a 3-in-1 foaming wash that I like to use while I’m in the shower. Once I get out, I use Neutrogena’s Deep Clean Purifying Cooling Gel Scrub. This is a scrub that lightly exfoliates your face. I personally do not like harsh exfoliators on my face because I find it to irritate my skin. Next, I use the Deep Clean purifying clay mask. This is a mask that you squeeze out of a bottle and apply to your face. You let it sit for 15 minutes then rinse off and pat dry. I then apply a face mist by Natura Apothecary that has witch hazel in this. This mist helps clarify and tone unbalanced skin. My roommate got this for me for only $4.99 at T.J.Maxx. Previously, I would use a toner by Bioré, but I felt as if it would leave a burning sensation on my skin. Lastly, I use Garnier Skin Active Gel Cream. I love this moisturizer because it gives my face the perfect amount of hydration it needs without leaving it feeling heavy and sticky.

IPSY Bag Unboxing: Honest Review

As you have read in my previous posts, I have been spending a lot of time online shopping. A little less than a month ago I decided to try the IPSY Bag. IPSY is a subscription cosmetic company that will send you 5 samples of makeup every month in a makeup bag for $12 of you can do 5 full size products for $25. I decided to give this a try. When you create an account you answer a bunch of questions about yourself. These questions include what color your hair is and skin tone and they also ask you your preference on makeup. How comfortable you are with it, what types of shades for each product you prefer, and even how often you would like to receive a certain product. I decided to do the 5 samples of products for $12 since it is my first time. I got my products in a beautiful purple bag with flowers on it. The first product I opened was a highlight powder by Estate. I honestly have not used this brand before but I did find this product to be very light on my face and had a lot of pigment. The next product I opened was an Oryza nude shimmer and contour eyeshadow kit. I also have not heard of this brand either. When I opened this pallet, I saw one dark brown used for contour, and 3 different shades of nude eyeshadows that all had sparkles in it. I loved this pallet as well and they complimented my skin tone very nicely. The third product was calendula juicy cream by Aromatica. I honestly do not think I have heard of any of the brands that came in my IPSY bag, but when I did research on Aromatica there were many positive reviews. I noticed this cream did not have much of a scent, which is generally a good thing because you do not want to much perfume in your moisturizer. This specific cream I received said it was good for sensitive skin, which I have, and is also made with a vegan formula. This cream left my hands feeling very soft just like the online reviews said it would. My fourth product was a brush by Luxie, size 209 large shader. This brush reminds me of one of the brushes that came in my Naked pallet so it is always good to have an extra brush around. The last product I opened, which was my least favorite, was a liquid eyeliner by Sugar. When I first opened this product, I noticed it had the same tip as my Urban Decay liquid liner that I always use. I put a little on my wrist and it came out fine. However when it came to applying to my eye, the eyeliner would just not flow out onto the lid the way my Urban Decay would. It is difficult to apply which also makes it come out more messy. This is the only product I would not recommend. Overall, it was fun opening this bag and feeling like it was Christmas when I got it in the mail. I will definitely keep up with my $12 subscription to try out new products and introduce myself to new brands!

Color Change Lipstick: Review

Lately, I have found myself online shopping more than usual. I normally can’t bring myself to buy clothes and makeup online because I like to try things on in person or see the color of the makeup in person to make sure it would match my skin. I noticed a lot of people have been going crazy over this lipstick that changes color based on your pH level and body temperature. I have came across a shop on Etsy called KNK Miami. This shop isn’t known for makeup, they are known for athletic training gear, specifically for gymnastics. They came out with their own version of color changing lipstick, I would assume is for competitions. I ordered myself one for only $14. I got my lipstick 3 days later and I was so shocked at how fast it came. when I opened the box, it was a pretty translucent pink color with gold flakes and a flower in the middle. It had a fruity, strawberry smell. When I applied it to my lips it felt so moisturizing and went on clear. Just a few seconds later, my lips became a light pink color that looks natural to my skin tone. I am so pleased with this product and it will definitely become part of my everyday makeup routine. I will post a link down below if you are interested in purchasing this lipstick as well!

I Let My Boyfriend Dye My Hair!

The state of South Carolina, where I live, has recently been put on a ‘work or home’ order. Since, I haven’t had much to do other than do some homework and scroll on social media. I’ve seen a lot of people doing crazy things to their hair such as giving themselves bangs and dying their hair crazy colors. I have not dyed my hair since my sophomore year of college. I used to dye my hair red from when I was 17 till about 19 or 20. I decided I was ready for a change and I also had nothing else to do. I wouldn’t recommend people box dying their hair normally, I just chose to do so because I couldn’t get it professionally done. I went to Walmart and picked the “deepest blue black” hair dye. I expected this color to come out just black. I didn’t want to do anything too crazy because if I did any other color like pink or purple, the color wouldn’t take unless I bleached it because my hair is already on the darker side. I asked my boyfriend, Kyle, if he would dye it for me and he said yes. I was nervous the whole time about if he would get it even around my whole head and not miss any spots. Before he started, I put on an old t-shirt and put Vaseline around my hair line to avoid as much stain on my skin as possible. After he applied it all I had to wait 25 minutes to wash the dye out. Once I got out of the shower, I could immediately tell how much darker my hair was. After I let it air dry I straightened it and then I went outside into the sunlight to see the real color. I noticed it was definitely black, but I did not notice tones of blue which made me a little disappointed, but I did not expect much. I will probably not be keeping up with this color, but I had so much fun trying something new out!

The Secret to Split Ends

I started straightening my hair when I was in 6th grade. Since freshman year of high school, I would straighten my hair almost every day. I still do this almost every day, even in my last year of college. My natural hair is curly. I prefer to straighten it because in my opinion when my hair is straight, it is easier to manage. However, even with all the heat I constantly put on my hair, I have barley any split ends and my hair has not thinned out from this. I have a few tricks I use that keeps my hair damage free that I would love to share with you!

My first tip would be to use a shampoo and conditioner that specifically help hair that has been damaged. My choice of shampoo and conditioner is Pantene, specifically the repair and protect ones. Once I am out of the shower and my hair is still damp, I apply OGX Coconut Milk Serum. This is a serum that helps with anti-breakage. When I apply this product, I start from the bottom and work my way up, but I am careful to try to get little to almost no product on the roots of my hair. This avoids a greasy look once the hair is dry.

Since I use the straightener on my hair so often, I try not to use the blow dryer if I can. If I do use a blow dryer, I will apply heat protectant in my hair. This is the same heat protectant I will use once my hair is fully dry and ready to be straightened. This heat protectant is called Not Your Mothers 10-in-1 Hair Perfecter. I love this product because it has so many benefits including but not limited to, heat protection, mends split ends, controls frizz, moisturizes, and repairs dry hair.

Another tip for when you are straightening your hair is to make sure you part it off into smaller sections as you go. This will help you avoid going over the same spot over and over again and applying more heat damage.

My last and final tip is if you have the time and the money, make sure you are getting a trim about every 6 months! I know it can be hard to keep up which is why I have all these other tips I mentioned for those who want to keep their hair long or are trying to grow out their hair! Boyfriend does my makeup challenge!

During this time in our world, we are all going through some serious issues with COVID-19 and I hope everyone, and their loved ones are safe and sound. Everyone is expected to social distance and stay in their home unless it is absolutely necessary. One night at home, I saw a trend going around YouTube in which girls had their significant other do a full face of makeup on them. I wanted to make my own so I asked my boyfriend, Kyle, if he would do my makeup. Before starting, I did not give him any tips or tricks other than what brushes were used for each product. He decided to start with adding primer on both my face and eyelids. Next, he did my face of makeup from BB cream (Tarte), to bronzer (Too Faced), blush, and highlighter (Jeffree Star). When it came to the eyes, he found a picture on Google that he wanted to try to recreate with the colors I had with me at the time. He chose a red look and it did not come out that bad at all! The trickiest part for him, I think a lot of people who use make up, was doing the top eyeliner and wings. It was his first time attempting to do so and he used my Urban Decay liquid eyeliner. Next he did my bottom eyeliner, which for me was the trickiest part. I couldn’t keep my eyes open long enough for him to get it done. Lastly, he did my eyebrows with my Anastasia eyebrow pencil and my mascara (Loreal butterfly). The mascara was also another tricky part for both him and I to do. Overall, we had a lot of fun with this challenge and shared a lot of laughs together. I encourage you and a friend to try this also!
